DST-1 sensor from Fife uses multiple cameras

Maxcess, a global leader in innovative products and services for web handling applications, will unveil the DST-1 sensor from Fife at IDEA in Miami Beach, FL.
“The DST-1 utilizes state-of-the-art technology to guide the most challenging materials that other sensors simply can’t recognize,” says Shomari Head, Global Product Manager for Fife Guiding. “We have put it through its paces in our lab and been able to successfully guide materials we never dreamed possible.”
Utilizing multiple cameras for object-based recognition, the DST-1 is able to guide a wide range of materials from mesh to wire gauge and frayed materials that infrared, ultrasonic, line guide and other optical sensors have traditionally failed.
“This year marks Fife’s 80th anniversary,” says Greg Jehlik, CEO of Maxcess. “During our storied history we have introduced a number of technological breakthroughs to the guiding industry, and the DST-1 is no exception.” Also on Display at IDEA from Maxcess: Fife- Enhanced digital sensor technology with the DSE-17 and SE-45 Wide Band Sensor and highlights of the D-MAX Enhanced, featuring advanced networkability with ProfiNet, EtherNet/IP and EtherCAT. Tidland- Control Series Electronic Knifeholder, an all-electronic knifeholder that offers auto-calibration of side force and blade overlap to increase slit accuracy and consistency. MAGPOWR- DLCA-NET, a tension amplifier with networking capabilities, offering the ability to transmit calibrated tension values over communications, CSR and ISR tension sensing idler rolls, and thin load cells.
